Patient Educator
Deborah Bush QSM Dip Tchg LSB Deborah co-founded the NZ Endometriosis Foundation Inc in 1985 and is currently Chief Executive of the organisation. Deborah has a professional background in teaching, personal presentation training and sales and marketing. Her skill in facilitation and presenting is well recognised and she has presented at congresses on endometriosis in New Zealand, India, Asia, Canada, Europe and the UK. She has been instrumental in raising awareness of endometriosis and its far-reaching consequences on quality of life and fertility both in New Zealand and overseas. In 1997 she developed what has become the internationally acclaimed adolescent 'Me' (Menstrual Health and Endometriosis) educational school based programme. She is a recognised authority on endometriosis and is on the International EndometriosisZone Advisory Board and is Chair of APEA (Asia Pacific Endometriosis Alliance). In the 2003 Queens Birthday Honours she was awarded the Queens Service Medal for her contribution to Women's Health. Deborah is an advocate of a multi-disciplinary holistic approach to endometriosis treatment and has developed a world leading comprehensive patient management programme. Her role operating a patient advisory service is now available at Endometriosis Auckland.
