Dietician
Kerry McIlroy
Kerry McIlroy SRD is the clinical director for dietetics at Auckland and Starship Hospitals, a position she has held for the last 20 years. She is also a partner in the practice of Auckland Dietetic Consultants. Her dietetic clinical work is in nutrition support in gut surgery and gastroenterology. She is a member of the Nutrition support team at Auckland Hospital. Her research interests were initially with the Auckland Medical School where she worked with Professor Tasman- Jones in gut related disorders , but the research more recently has been with the department of Surgery and Liver unit at Auckland Hospital looking at body composition in patients undergoing surgery. Kerry is responsible for the post graduate clinical teaching of dietetic students at Auckland Hospital. In 2005 she became a council member for the Australasian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. She also is on the food sub committee for Pharmac and convenor of the NZDA awards. In her private practice she specialises in gastroenterology, obesity, diabetes and general nutrition related problems.
