Associate Professor Neil Johnson
NEIL JOHNSON, MBBS BMedSci MRCOG MRCGP FRANZCOG CREI is Associate Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Auckland.
Neil's main clinical interests are laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, fertility and colposcopy. His specialist training was undertaken in both the UK and New Zealand, and he is the only New Zealand specialist to have completed the advanced training program necessary to accredit as a Subspecialist in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility within New Zealand. He is now involved with training and examining other fertility subspecialists throughout Australia and New Zealand. Neil is an editor of the Cochrane Menstrual Disorders & Subfertility Group, is a member of the New Zealand Endometriosis Foundation Trust Board, and is the convenor of the annual National Women's Minimal Access Surgery Courses. With a national and growing international reputation as a leader in gynaecology and fertility clinical research, his main areas of research interest currently include endometriosis, evidence based fertility treatments, polycystic ovaries and ovarian reserve. In 2005 Neil received RANZCOG's 'Young Gynaecologist' award for New Zealand and he was awarded the Australian Gynaecologic Endoscopy Society prizes for 'Best Surgical Video' and 'Best Oral Presentation' at the annual scientific meeting.
